Freelance Writer
| Mary McGarity is a freelance writer with more than 20 years of experience in financial writing and research. Based in Trumbull, Connecticut, she began her career on Wall Street covering futures markets for a large investment bank. She later worked in New York as an energy reporter for Telerate Inc., a Dow Jones company.
McGarity moved to Washington, D.C., in the late 1980s and served as the Washington correspondent for a Dealers Digest newsletter, covering mortgage securities. She then worked at the Mortgage Bankers Association as a senior reporter for several years.
Since moving to Connecticut, McGarity has worked as a freelance writer and researcher, primarily covering the mortgage, banking and real estate industries.
She graduated with a bachelor of arts degree, with a major in English, from the State University of New York at Albany. She also completed the Commodities Futures Trading Commission certification course.
