| Kurt Vargo graduated from the School of Visual Arts, and was faculty member of the Illustration Department from 1980-2003. He currently is a professor in the Illustration Department at the Savannah College of Art and Design, Savannah, Georgia, and will complete his master of fine arts degree in the fall of 2008.
He resides on Willmington Island, Georgia, with his wife, Marcie, three children and four cats.
Kurt’s work has appeared in books, magazines, annual reports and as children’s videos and posters in the United States, Europe and Japan. Clients include: TIME magazine, The New York Times, American Airlines, Random House and many others. His work has been showcased in PRINT magazine, Communication Arts and American Illustration annuals.
He has received awards from the Society of Illustrators, NYC; Oppenheim Portfolio; Art Direction Club of California; PRINT Magazine; The Boston Globe ; and The New England Associated Press.
Kurt has also been nominated and selected as one of the best teachers in the United States by “Who’s Who in American Professors” (2005, 2006, 2007)--only 7 percent of the nation’s teachers receive this award annually.
